Dana Focks

Title: Research Professor
College/Institute: Environmental and Global Health
Research interests: vector-borne diseases, particularly dengue
From graduate school until today, Dr. Dana A. Focks says his primary research objective has been to better understand the epidemiology and control of vector-borne diseases, particularly dengue. These are complex systems involving biotic and abiotic factors that span a range of scales in time and space; they are stochastic and non-linear. His view of models has been that they are useful tools to integrate what is known about these systems, to generate testable hypotheses, identify areas needing research, optimize current and develop new vector control strategies.
