The figures above represent the findings of a genomic sequencing analysis of the virus that causes COVID-19, with samples taken from infected individuals in Alachua County, Fla. The sequence analysis represents findings from community transmission as of Sep 27, 2021.

  • Top panel: Number of samples successfully sequenced in Florida (dashed line) and % of those samples (bars) comprising variants of concern or other (gray) for each week since the onset of sequencing in the in Florida in March 2020. Sequences obtained from GISAID, as well as samples provided by BayCare Health System and the University of Miami.
  • Bottom panel: Number of samples successfully sequenced across Alachua County (dashed line) and % of those samples (bars) comprising variants of concern or other (gray) for each week since the onset of sequencing in the county in October 2020. Samples provided by UF Health Shands, UF Health Pathology Laboratories, and UF’s Screen, Test and Protect program.
