Different definitions of late HIV diagnosis are used to represent people diagnosed at an advanced stage of their illness. How well varying definitions represent those at risk for poor outcomes is unclear. Our aim was to examine proportions of late, delayed and timely HIV diagnoses in Florida and identify factors associated with diagnosis status.
Turtle fraservirus 1 (TFV1) is an emerging pathogen that was first discovered in freshwater turtles in peninsular Florida (USA) in 2018. The incubation period, transmission route(s), range of virus-susceptible species, and other key epidemiological factors that pertain to this disease are still unknown.
In February 2024, while conducting surveillance for novel respiratory viruses, we studied four beef cattle farms near Monterrey, Mexico. Nasal swabs were collected from sick and healthy beef cattle along with 3 h aerosol samples. None of the samples had molecular evidence of influenza A viruses.

Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 (HPAI H5N1) was first detected in chickens in Scottland in 1959 and has since circulated globally, causing regular outbreaks among different animal species, as well as incidental infections in humans. In this scoping review, the epidemiology and impact of HPAI H5N1 among migratory birds, poultry, and cattle in the United States were analyzed, with a particular focus on outbreaks since January 2022.
