The University of Florida Emerging Pathogens Institute membership encompasses a variety of disciplines, and members are leading experts in infectious disease and pathogenic research. EPI members continue to tackle the oldest infectious diseases like cholera and leprosy while paving the way for identifying emerging pathogens that decimate populations, such as the discovery of a microscopic parasite responsible for long-spined sea urchin die-offs. As infectious disease outbreaks become more frequent, the need for public health guidance increases. Fortunately, EPI experts can answer the call.
