Facilities home of the Emerging pathogens institute

The EPI is a Florida research facility focused on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases found in the state and across the world. The institute is uniquely equipped to study plants, animals, people, the environment and food safety.

Established in 2006

Core Research Facility

The Emerging Pathogens Institute (EPI) occupies an 90,000-square foot building, which opened in January of 2010. The green-certified building fosters collaboration among the more than 250 microbiologists, epidemiologists, computer modelers, pathologists, geographers, statisticians, ecologists, entomologists and molecular geneticists who comprise the institute.

AQUATIC PATHObiology LAB

APL

Aquatic Research

The aquatic research laboratory offers members lab space to work in areas of aquatic toxicology, aquatic pathology and virology, and ecological studies that examine relationships among aquatic animal health, human health and environmental stress.

Laboratory Resources

The aquatic pathobiology lab (APL) offers members a dynamic space that facilitates their research. Features include a temperature-controlled water loop, hot water heaters, mixing valves, custom saltwater flow, wastewater disinfection system and more.

Lab facilities in haiti

The Emerging Pathogens Institute has developed an infectious diseases lab in Haiti to help guide public health interventions and train Haitian investigators and laboratory technicians. This capacity includes laboratory space located on the Love a Child (LAC) campus in Fond Parisien, Haiti.

Facilities

Clinical

LAC operates an outpatient clinic and birthing center which serve the Fond Parisien neighborhood and the surrounding mountain villages.
