June 25, 2018: The UF Emerging Pathogens Institute shares in the sorrow of the passing of Dr. Adel Mahmoud.
Dr. Mahmoud was a former president of Merck Vaccines. He visited EPI during Research Day 2016 to deliver a key note address on vaccines and their significance in global health. At Merck, Mahmoud oversaw the implementation of several different vaccines such as a vaccine for rotavirus infection and Gardasil, the HPV vaccine. After leaving Merck in 2006, he joined Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs at Princeton University.
