The figures below represent the findings of a genomic sequencing analysis of the virus that causes COVID-19, with samples taken from people in Alachua County, Fla. The sequence analysis represents findings from community transmission as of August 3, 2021.

  • Top panel: Number of samples successfully sequenced in Alachua County (—) and % of those samples (bars) comprising variants of Interest (pastel), variants of concern (dark), or other (gray) for each week since the onset of sequencing in the county in December 2020. Samples provided by UF Health Shands, UF Health Pathology Laboratories, and UF’s Screen, Test and Protect program (updated July 24, 2021).
  • Middle panel: Number of samples successfully sequenced across remaining locations in Florida (—) and % of those samples (bars) comprising variants of interest (pastel), variants of concern (dark), or other (gray) for each week since the onset of sequencing in Florida in March 2020.
  • Bottom panel: Number of vaccination breakthrough samples successfully sequenced in Alachua County (—) and % of those samples (bars) comprising variants of interest (pastel), variants of concern (dark), or other (gray) for each week since the onset of sequencing in the county in December 2020.
